Book Trailers

Hi Everyone,

To end off my month of YA reviews, I've decided to do something a little different than merely review a book. As great as my reviews are, (yes, I'm tooting my own horn) I wanted to make things exciting for you lovely readers! I'm going to tell you a story.

No, really, I'm going to tell you a story.

All right, so I came across something interesting  today on Twitter, and I just had to find out more. I came across a tweet by Harper Teen about a book trailer. And I thought to myself, what on earth is a book trailer? Well, for those of you like me, who had NO idea there was such a thing, book trailers are just what they sound like, movie trailers. Only it's about a book, not a movie. I watched the thing over and over shaking my head wondering when the world got so cool. Honestly, I feel I was born just about eight years too soon! I so wish there had been book trailers when I was a kid!! When I was a kid, first off there weren't cool books. Well, not like there are now. There were some books that I thought were pretty cool. But you had to really really really look. Because book covers looked like this back in the 80s:

Or, this one is from the 70s, but I still found it in my school library,

Yeah, you get the idea. Don't judge a book by it's cover indeed. Now, I've read and enjoyed both these books, so I can say, these covers don't do the stories justice. So what were the publishers thinking? I. Have. No. Idea. It was the 80s. Today, book covers look like this:

Much better!! There's something magical about this cover (in real life, it's shiny too) and mysterious. It's grown up, but not enough that your parents might feel the need to pick up the book and check to see what the heck you're reading. That is, if you're a preteen or even teenager. I'm so jealous kids today get these gorgeous, adult looking book covers.  And now they have book trailers!!! I'm ridiculously excited. In fact, I can barely type. Oh, and I have read Entwined. It's awesome.

So, now that I've shared my excitement I want to share my first ever book trailer with you. It's for a new book by Michelle Gagnon called Don't Turn Around. It goes on sale Tuesday, August 28, 2012 Please click the link to read her blog post and watch the trailer. A special thank you to Michelle for being on board with me sharing her blog and book trailer here on My Devastating Reads.
