The Amoveo are an ancient race who've lived secretly among humans for thousands of years. They are beautiful and incredibly strong but their race is extremely fragile--each has until the age of 30 to find their soul mate, before their bodies start to die a slow, painful death.

Layla Nickelsen has spent her life running from a mate she didn't choose, until William Fleury finally confronts her. Normally stoic and unemotional, William finds himself befuddled by Layla: his growing feelings for her and his driving need to protect her. And Layla has to admit that William might be everything she's always wanted after all...

♥My Thoughts♥

So, I picked this up at the bookstore one day while I was feeling a little blue. I've always really enjoyed paranormal romance, in fact it was the first genre I really started reading when I first started reading romance. And while I had never heard of this author before, the blurb just sounded soo good. I'm so glad when I give new books a try and they turn out to be fabulous!

William: William has been searching for his Amoveo mate for a long time. He's finally found her, but Layla keeps running from him in the dream realm. This disturbs William because he really wants to be with his mate, and the dream realm is an important part of solidifying their connection to one another. He decides to go and find Layla in real life, and cool, collected and logical William finds that Layla is one feisty handful. She wants nothing to do with him or their shared destiny as mates. William of course, can't just let her walk away. I love that he doesn't go totally badass alpha on her. He pursues her gently, and he's really patient and loving with her. He knows that Layla has a hard time trusting and that's she's grown up believing that the Amoveo are dangerous. I loved that he let her take the lead in their relationship and that he let her know he loved her for her and not simply because they are mates.

Layla: Poor Layla is so out of control that she sure sends William on a wild ride. But the thing is, she's on it with him because she's not always entirely in control of her actions. She's proud, and afraid and she has no desire to be owned by Layla. And his gentlemanly behaviour both throws her off balance and makes her fall in love with him. But despite how much she wants William, both physically and emotionally, Layla has a hard time giving herself to another person. She really takes a long time to trust, and to learn to be unafraid. She likes having William around, and she's disappointed when he doesn't say the mating words to her, but she's failed to understand that William is waiting for her to OK that. So of course when he leaves, she's crushed, but I loved that since William thought Layla really wasn't able to trust him that in the end it was her that said the mating words.

Lots of wonderful supporting characters in this story, and since this book three in the series, lots of the series overall story line of Purist Amoveos trying to exterminate the half breeds like Layla. Civil war erupts at the end of the novel, so I'm excited to both read the previous books to get more of the back story and to read the next books after the third to see what's happened in the Amoveo world.

Untamed was well written, well paced and just plain good reading every which way I looked at it.

Favourite quote

"You are the beautiful and elusive pinpoint of radiance that lit up the darkness and called me home."
