Review: Doctor-Patient Confidentiality: Volume One by Eme Stife

I have to say, I am intrigued. I haven't read any serials really, and this one has my attention. As a rule of thumb, I don't like it when novels end on cliffhangers or stretch over three or more books for the couple to reach that HEA. In this serial series however, I have to say the author ended things right in the middle of things when your curiosity is really piqued and yet at the most perfect moment as well.

Series: The Confidential Series, #1
My Rating:
Genre: Erotic Romance

The novel opens up with a pretty hot scene where it's revealed that the main character is having an affair of sorts with a married man. I say of sorts because it sounds like there's no emotion involved in this relationship. From there, we go back to the beginning of the story and discovers more about our main character. I have to say, I'm not sure I like her yet. Ramona is wound kinda tight, afraid to love, and worried about money. There's definitely stuff in her past I'm curious about. I'm also concerned about her stomach pain. I don't know how exactly it's messing with her ability to sing, but I have a plethora of ideas as to what her stomach issues might be related to. None of which are serious, but which would require a doctor to check into...and I'm thinking that's how Ramona becomes involved in the affair from the prologue.

I feel fairly confident in saying that much of what wasn't revealed in this first series will be revealed later, and that the story will only get hotter and the plot with her illness, past and family problems will only thicken. I think all of it must be connected to the reason that Ramona is so afraid of falling in love. I wish a wee bit more had been revealed though because I feel a little too much in the dark at the moment. I know it's coming, but knowing a bit more would helped me understand Ramona a little better.

Good writing, an excellent build up to the rest of the series and an intriguing story line. I can't imagine it's easy writing serials, but this was an especially promising first volume. Volume Two ought make for some very interesting reading indeed.

I would like to thank the author for providing me with a copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review.

Happy Reading
